5 Unspoken Benefits of Solo Female Travel
Five reasons why solo female travel is the way to go.
Traveling solo is something every female should do at least once in their lives, but a lot of the time fear gets in the way of taking the leap. Being a solo-female backpacker myself, I am here to share with you some points that have changed my life through traveling on my own!
I know to some of you, it might sound completely insane to pack up and head out in the world all alone, but it is not as frightening as it sounds! It is the before departure, over-thinking that will get the best of you – because once you get out there, it will be one of the best experiences of your life! Keep reading as I share some of the top benefits of solo-female traveling!
1. Alone but Never Truly Alone
One of the scariest thoughts might be that you will be lonely on your travels or that you won’t have anyone to share amazing experiences with. There is a quote that I like to use often as a solo-female backpacker which is “alone but never truly alone”. This quote holds true as every step of the way you will be making friends – it is actually a lot easier to make friends when you are alone! Just be brave and gather the courage to take the first step, because from then on it’s a breeze.
2. Brings You Out of Your Comfort Zone
Solo travel in itself is taking a step outside of the box, but the things you will do along these travels will also be continuing this pattern. You see, when you a traveling solo, you are already being spontaneous and are a lot more likely to continue doing things you never thought you would do! This can lead to some of the most thrilling, courageous experiences of your life!
3. You’re in Charge
This point is perhaps one of the best – running on your own schedule, seeing what you want to see, eating where
you want to eat, and not having to ask for anyone’s opinion is something you will never get if you travel with others! Embrace this and truly be the guide of your own travels!
4. Independence
One of the most valuable things I brought home with me after my first solo travels were my independence. Although I have always been a very independent person to begin with, I came back even more so. Traveling alone, planning, and making your own decisions every step of the way creates a new perspective of what you are capable of when on your own and it can be very empowering!
5. Finding Yourself
To me, this is the most important point of all – finding yourself. Traveling solo is one of the most freeing experiences you will ever have. It may not always be easy, but you learn so much about yourself that you would not have otherwise. If you feel lost on your path or feel as though you do not fully understand yourself, I urge you to pack your bags and travel solo. You do not have to travel to a whole new continent, but go somewhere you have never been to and see things you have never seen. Climb mountains, swim in the ocean or sit in the street with a glass of rosé, but whatever you do, enjoy it. Enjoy being alone, because there may not be many chances in your life to do so!
